You can travel all around Australia and see the same old furniture over and over again. That's because all the large stores source and sell the same products – many of which are designed for the masses in Melbourne and Sydney. Much of this furniture may not be suitable for our wonderful North Queensland lifestyle and therefore will never be sold by Jools!

What defines Quality furniture? Here are some facts and myths.

At Jools our lounge manufacturers always use stainless steel staples, (mild steel staples, as commonly used, just rust away up in the tropics!)

All too many furniture stores sell lounges and furniture containing chipboard (particle board). Our customers are astute enough to recognize that, for just a small premium, they can have furniture constructed from solid timbers which will give many years of service. This is particularly important in the frames of sofas as chipboard has no lateral strength and it is very common for the chipboard ‘backbone' to be broken in transit.

‘Leather where it counts', means leather facings with the rest in colour matched vinyl.

Lounges are often upholstered in ‘man made' leather! Real leather comes from the skins of any animal, reptile, bird or fish – by a process called tanning. ‘Man made leather is vinyl embossed and coloured to look like real cow leather. We find that many people who think that leather is too hot for the tropics have previously had this vinyl ‘man made leather', which is unbearably hot and sweaty in the tropics.
